A Levis convidou alguns dos artistas do pop, rock, soul ou hip hop emergentes do momento para re-criar as canções clássicas que inspiraram a sua música numa iniciativa intitulada Levi’s Pioneer Sessions.

Hoje deixo esta maravilhosa versão de Michael Angelakos, o responsável pelo falsete único dos Passion Pit, para o clássico de 1996 Tonight, Tonight dos Smashing Pumpkins. O timbre de Angelakos encaixa na perfeição na letra de Billy Corgan, afastando-se da grandiosidade rock do original tornando-o numa balada frágil de synths reluzentes.

Relembro que neste projecto já passaram nomes como Jason Mraz, The Shins, Dirty Projectors ou She & Him com re-edits saborosos para pôr a mão em troca de um e-mail.

Levis has invited some pop, rock, soul or hip hop emerging artists to re-craft the classic songs that inspired their music in an initiative called Levi’s Pioneer Sessions. Today I bring you this wonderful version by Michael Angelakos, responsible for Passion Pit’s unique falsetto, of 1996′s classic Tonight, Tonight by The Smashing Pumpkins. Angelakos timbre fits perfectly in Billy Corgan’s lyrics, escaping from the original rock grandiosity making it a glittering synth fragile ballad. I recall that some great names like Jason Mraz, The Shins, Dirty Projectors or She & Him have collaborated for this project with tasty re-edits you can grab in exchange of an email.
