Há vários meses que não ouvia falar de Gossip Culture, o jovem produtor que apresentei aqui. Ontem, finalmente, ouvi o novo single intitulado 1985. Segundo Ryan Sheridan, este sucessor de Just Fine With You, é um raro tributo a Phoebe Cates (sim, a actriz dos Gremlins), Rick James (produtor soul e funk da banda The Mynah Birds com Neil Young) e à Nitendo.

Suportado por uma batida hip-hop lo-fi, bassline funk, palmas sintetizadas e  vocoders vocais, este tema faz parte do EP de cinco faixas People Talk,com lançamento previsto para final do ano. Sheridan voltou repetir a fórmula que tanto me agrada: música disco-funk envolta em mistério e fumo tocada num club underground perdido dos anos 80. Mais músicas de Gossip Culture aqui.

It’s been a while I haven’t heard from Gossip Culture, the young producer that I’ve talked about here.Yesterday, finally, I received his new single titled 1985. For Ryan Sheridan, the successor of Just Fine With You, is a rare tribute to Phoebe Cates (yes, the actress from Gremlins), Rick James (soul and funk producer from the  band The Mynah Birds with Neil Young) and Nintendo. Backed by a lo-fi hip-hop beat, a funk bassline, synthesized handclaps and vocoded vocals, this theme is part of the 5-track People Talk EP, due out late this year. Sheridan has once again repeated the formula that pleases me so much: disco-funk music shrouded in mystery and smoke played in underground club lost in the 80′s. More songs from Gossip Culture here.
