Time of the Assassins é o novo single retirado do brilhante álbum psych-folk da cantora/actriz francesa Charlotte Gainsbourg, IRM.
Time of the Assassins is the new single from the brilliant psych-folk album from singer and actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, IRM. This touching song, one of my favorites, produced by Beck, has a new video directed by Todd Cole, who explores a melancholic and contemplative atmosphere, a feeling of loneliness and emptiness that the music always expressed to me.
The British quartet of progressive pop Klaxons, who burst onto the music scene with the acclaimed debut album Myths Of The Near Future (2007) and huge hits like Golden Skans and It’s Not Over Yet, is preparing to re-take the blogosphere by storm with their new music Flashover. The theme begins with an orchestra of powerful guitars and drums in fierce rhythm highlighting an explosive chorus of voices. When it appears to be too heavy to get out of my comfort zone the band escapes to a more peaceful pace, only for a short break enough to not become boring. A theme far from the dance-punk beats from their previous album that leaves me some doubts about the sound of the next album. It remains to be seen. Here is Flashover and Golden Skans to remember.
John Jagos, the promising artist that I presented yesterday, have sent SBB a proof of his love across the ocean. It’s called Lovers and it’s an exclusive new song on SBB, that Jagos sent and I can only thank. Lovers arrived with the colors of the summer sunsets, as hot lethargic afternoons passing slowing, wrapped in a lazy funk rhythm of sweaty synths, distorted voices and strangely sensual robot sounds. A combination of lo-fi pop nuances, with notes of Disco that sound like recreations of songs vaguely remembered. Music filled with light and ancient lovers nostalgia, immersed in a lush atmosphere of elongated voices and sonic environments recorded on cassette. Vision Tunnels EP is available here and shows the producers influences of electronic sound by Brian Eno, M83 and the experimentalism of Animal Collective, Caribou oud Yeasayer, mixing the ethereal style of 80′s new age with modern electro-dance beats.

I could hear this all day and let my mind wander in tropical islands, crystal waters and colorful drinks. This summer the word of the day is Dreamwave and I can’t get tired of discovering new names, though often indistinct among themselves, leaving me in a Zen state that everyone should experience. Today was brought to my attention an American artist born in Toledo (Ohio), named John Jagos, aka Brothertiger. Jagos, who has just published the Vision Tunnels EP, is responsible for a handful of sun warmed pop themes, adorned with a thin layer of distorted casio synths, echoed voices, flowing dreamy beats that keep undulating in my ears like a hammock. Listening to the EP Tunnels Vision is like letting the sun through the window in the morning and be invaded by a effervescent dance-beat euphoria and vigorous percussion that reminds us some of the best moments of Washed Out or Toro y Moi. A brilliant album with a delicious taste of summer.

A few days ago I’ve mentioned here the remix album from the New York band Au Revoir Simone, titled Night Light, to be released on July 5th via Moshi Moshi. After bringing the incredible Neon Indian’s rearrangement of Another Likely Story, now it’s time for the promising Clock Opera to put their fingers on Tell Me. Besides these ones, the album features guest artists such as Your Twenties, Columns or Silver Aeroplane and promises to fill this house. I also leave the magical theme A Piece of String, introduced here, first single out of the upcoming Clock Opera’s debut album.

I’ve just discovered the new producer Dunian, originally from Latvia. This chillwave artist, is offering an album on his site which is a collection of worn out colored music, fuzzy beats blinded by the sun that throw us to sea. Heat and Polaroids from 1990, futuristic Summer lost in memories of what is yet to come. Echoed contrasts between heavenly vocals, vintage synths and syncopated funk, emotions pointed directly to the head, a rhythm drags our body heavily and makes the mind escape to a state of hazyness.
