Há já cerca de um mês que a editora portuguesa Discotexas publicou o EP de remixes de Black and Blue, da dupla de LA Terminal Twilight. A banda formada por Molly Frances e M Frohman, cria uma sonoridade construída dobre synths vintage sexy, que piscam o olho à disco decadente da Italians do It Better (em especial os Glass Candy), ritmos de dança narcóticos e uma voz doce e sensual que nos despe em segundos. It’s was last month that Portuguese label Discotexas released Black and Blue remixes EP, from LA duo Terminal Twilight. The band formed by molly frances and M Frohman, creates a sound built over sexy vintage synths vintage, winking to Italians Do It Better (especially Glass Candy) decadent-disco, narcotic dance rhythms and a sweet sexy voice capable of undress you in seconds. Há tempos que ando para escrever sobre os Solar Bears. Provavelmente já os conhecem, mas aqui fica o meu contributo. A dupla irlandesa, formada por John Kowalski e Rian Trench, inspirou-se no filme de ficção científica russo de Andrei Tarkovsky para dar nome a este projecto electrónico que funde referência cinematográficas como Ennio Morricone ou George Delerue, com uma mistura de arranjos digitais, instrumentos acústicos, synths e cassette vintage.

She Was Colored Here, o LP de estreia, combina electrónica escapista em cadência lânguida e contemplativa com sintetizadores de brilho neon de final de anos 70 e ritmos cósmicos do início dos anos 80. Uma viagem intergaláctica para absorver devagar aqui.

I’ve been wanting to write about Solar Bears for some time now. You might already know them, but here’s my contribution. The Irish duo, formed by John Kowalski and Rian Trench, was inspired a russian science fiction film by Andrei Tarkovsky to name this electronic project that merges cinematic references of Ennio Morricone or George Delerue, with a mixture of digital arrangements, acoustic instruments, synths and vintage tape machines. ‘She Was Colored Here’, their debut LP, combines escapist electronica in languid and contemplative pace, with neon shimmering 70′s synths and early ’80s cosmic rhythms. Já tinha falado do jovem produtor britânico Little Loud com a brilhante remistura para Bicycles dos Memory Tapes.

Desta vez, chamou-me a atenção a versão de Believer dos Goldfrapp pelas mãos talentosas deste rapaz. E qual não foi o meu espanto quando descobri as restantes remisturas de Little Loud que são tão boas, tão boas que tinham de vir parar aqui. Perdoem-me o trocadilho foleiro, mas é caso para dizer: put a Little Louder!

I had spoken before of the young British producer Little Loud and his brilliant remix of Bicycles for Memory Tapes. This time, what grabbed my attention was the incredible version of Believer from Goldfrapp by the hands of this talented young man. And how great was my surprise when I discovered other Little Loud remixes which are so good, so good that had to show up here. Forgive me for the corny pun, but I have to say: Put a Little Louder!

Há algum tempo que falei neste álbum, mas só hoje o ouvi na íntrega e, claro, tenho de partilhar. Night Light é o excelente álbum de remixes da queridinhas do indie-pop de Brooklyn, Au Revoir Simone. Às vozes doces e incrivelmente sedutoras de Annie Hart, Erika Forster e Heather D’Angelo junta-se uma selecção cuidada de batidas electrónicas de alguns dos melhores produtores da actualidade.

Passando o álbum na diagonal (por falta de tempo, porque cada canção merece uma verdadeira tese de mestrado), Night Light soa a música de embalar para adultos num registo que nunca sai fora de tom, nem demasiado acelerado para acordar, nem demasiado lento para adormecer. Do psicadelismo cool de Neon Indian, à suavidade melódica de Jens Lekman, da soul vintage de Jensen Sportag ao funk tarantinesco de Mack Winston, da frescura de Verão de Deradoorian ao minimalismo atmosférico de Max Cooper, do handclap pueril de Your Twenties à percussão de ritmos latino dos Silver Columns, do conto de fadas etéreo de Clock Opera às consolas spektrum dos Aeroplane à versão apontada ao coração dos Tanlines, este é um álbum brilhante, delicado e emotivo que recomendo vivamente. I’ve talked about this album a long time ago, but only today I’d the change to listen to it and of course I had to share. Night Light is an excellent remixes album of the Brooklyn indie-pop darlings songs, Au Revoir Simone. To the incredibly seductive and sweet voices of Annie Hart, Erika Forster and Heather D’Angelo joins a a special range of electronic beats from some of the best producers of modern days. Passing the album on a quick review (only for lack of time, because every song deserves a true master’s thesis), Night Light sounds like lullabies for adults in a quiet pace that never goes out of tune, not too fast to wake you up, nor too slow to make fall asleep. From Neon Indian’s psychedelic coolness, to Jens Lekman’s melodic smoothness, from Jensen Sportag’s vintage soul to Mack Winston’s Tarantinesk funk, from Deradoorian’s summer freshness to Max Cooper’s minimal atmosphere, from Your Twenties’s childlike handclaps  to Silver Columns latin percussion rhythms, from Clock Opera’s ethereal fairy tale to the spektrum 80′s consoles of Aeroplane to a version pointed to the heart by Tanlines, this is a delicate and emotional brilliant album,  than I strongly recommend. Bienvenue Simone! Night Light is available here.

A quatro dias de uma magnífica viagem pelo Cambodja e Vietname, o meu estado de espírito hoje chega nas batidas do DJ Andre Anjos, mais conhecido por RAC, para o belíssimo Sweet Disposition dos australianos Temper Trap. Um boa escape para quem já está cansado da versão original. Um tratamento polvilhado com uma fina linha de baixo e sintetizadores suaves que potenciam mais ainda a incrível voz de Dougie Mandagi.

E para não dizerem que não sou amigo, fica uma tonelada de remisturas aditivas deste colectivo de artistas para curtirem como se não houvesse amanhã.

Four days away from going to a magnificent trip around Cambodia and Vietnam, my mood today arrives in the beats of DJ Andre Anjos, better known as RAC, for the wonderful ‘Sweet Disposition’ by australian-based Temper Trap. A good escape for those who are already tired of the original version. Já aqui mostrei várias vezes o meu amor pelos suecos Korallreven. Embora o EP de estreia esteja complemente esgotado, a Acephale Records vai lançar um EP recheado de maravilhosas remixes e teve a cortesia de me enviar algumas delas. CFCF e LOLBoys fizeram magia aos já sonhadores originais. Duas versões temperamentais e leves como penas para reter no céu da boca e saborar bem devagar.

Há dias trouxe o novo single Forget Me Not do duo electro sueco Thieves Like Us, com gostinho retro a la New Order. Hoje chega o vídeo, em estreia exclusiva no stereogum.

O vídeo conta a história de um ladrão que se apaixona por uma prostituta e de como planeia um último assalto para poder começar uma nova vida com a sua paixão. Infelizmente a coisa não corre como esperado e a única conclusão é que o amor, para certas pessoas, está destinado a falhar.

O segundo álbum de originais Again And Again já anda por aí via Shelf Life. O EP de remisturas Forget Me Not, com tratamentos de Cecile, Minitel Rose ou Second Date, entre outros, está disponível para “assalto consentido” aqui a troco de um click.

O trio nova-iorquino Au Revoir Simone prepara-se para editar um álbum de remisturas – Night Light – a 5 de Julho via Moshi Moshi. Um álbum que promete bons momentos com a banda das miúda de estilo bibliotecário mais cool da cena indie-folk-pop.
